First sign of Spring

It takes me by surprise every January, I look out the window and see the yellow flowers on the Chinese Witchazel.

The heather Wickwar Flame is in full winter color.

There is a small island out in the lake that I walk alongside.  It was a glorious sunny day and very welcome.

Dog Pond Fence

Finally the Forest Service has put up a fence at the Dog Pond at South Jetty  Siuslaw River to keep vehicles from driving up to and into the pond. This is one of our favorite birding spots and a beaver pond. Maybe there is hope.
